13 October 1999: shot in stomach by underworld figure Jason Moran over drug debt to the Moran family
21 June 2003: Underworld figures Jason Moran and Pasquale Barbaro shot dead while sitting in their car at a children’s football clinic. Williams later convicted for ordering the murder of Moran.
18 August 2003: Charred body of underworld figure Mark Mallia found.
31 March 2004: Underworld figure Lewis Moran shot dead in an inner suburban Melbourne hotel on Williams’ orders.
2 April 2004: Banned from Crown Casino by Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon.
25 October 2003: Michael Marshall shot dead outside his South Yarra home on Williams’ orders.
29 October 2004: Sentenced to seven years jail for drug trafficking.
19 May 2006: Sentenced to 27 years for Marshall’s murder.
7 May 2007: Sentenced to 35 years for the murders of Lewis Moran, Jason Moran and Mark Mallia.
November 2007: Williams’ father, George, sentenced to four-and-a-half years jail for drug trafficking.
22 November 2008 – Mother Barbara is found dead in her Essendon home after overdosing on sleeping pills.
2 December 2008 – Refused leave to attend his mother’s funeral, but his tribute is read out, saying: “There’s nothing in the world I would not have done for you. Losing you is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with.”
20 June 2009 – George Williams released on good behaviour
19 April 2010 – Carl Williams dies, aged 39, after suffering head injuries and cardiac arrest at Acacia Unit Barwon Prison.
