Everyone had an opinion on Carl

While I have been researching articles on Carl Williams I came across an enormous amount of reader comments in the Herald Sun.Who above all others, have probably covered the last ten years of his life more than any other outlet in Australia being the major Melbourne newspaper I guess.

What got me thinking though is how we feel we know someone by what we read and see, having never met the person, some of the comments are run of the mill, Live by the sword, die by the sword etc Yet in others, we have complete strangers revealing true hatred for someone they have never met. Jus thought id share some of the thousands, just from one article after his death.

An exercise bike – what a fitting end to this vermin! While it took 10 years longer than I expected, his days were always numbered – what do you think the chances are of finding two Victorians you could lock him up with that didn’t want him dead. The bigger joke is that you can murder at least 4 people and still have a non-parole period less than your lifetime. At least these killers had the decency not to do it in front of his child…

How is Mr Overland going to get to the bottom of this when most of his experienced Homicide detectives are no longer in the force? At least Nixon can breathe a sigh of relief now, she must think that Williams’ murder will distract the public from her. My, my, my, the Police Minister, the Chief Commissioner and earlier the Deputy Commissioner and a Corrections Commissioner all come out for the death of a low life scum bag whose demise makes Victoria a better place. Compare this to black Saturday when all those at the helm were nowhere to be seen or were getting highlights in their hair, meeting with biographers or if they had to eat out to a prearranged dinner date with friends, when 173 good citizens lost heir lives.

The media has made Carl williams someone of prominance when all he really was was a cold blooded killer who got a final dose of Karma. And by the way, (as reported in another piece) ‘He often boasted his mother visited him in jail, but his victims’ families visited their loved ones in the cemetery.’ I hope no one feels sorry for his family after reading that!

People can say what they want to say – no one knows what this man had to endure, no one has walked in his shoes. He was a drug dealer, a ‘murderer’, a gangland kingpin. He was also a father, a husband and a son. Who would not defend their family with their life? Who would not make money to get their kids through school and provide for their family? As much as people do not want to admit it, he catered to a market that, unfortunately, does exist. The drugs market will never go away – as long as there is demand, someone will supply. I hope that the memory of Carl, the real Carl, is never lost nor replaced by his sinister acts. Yo can’t take one or two frames of a man’s life and define him as a person. He was a father, a husband and a son – he couldn’t have been all bad. R.I.P Carl, you had the heaviest shoulders of all, and you carried them as best you could mate.

Maybe i could understand this could happen not in the mainstream jail but not in the purposely built highest supervised unit where these prisoners are put for own safety.for prisoners deemed so at risk not only in mainsteam jail population but even in the protection section.its the protection of protection so i find it disturbing this was so somehow able to happen. Shocking way to die but in a way i wonder if maybe he’s better off because what a hell of a life to live for 35yrs.That,i wouldnt wish on anyone&couldnt bear to think of my loved living that.hard to feel a lot of sympathy for him but i feel alot for his father& poor innocent daughter. And as for media&people going on that he’s mass murderer&more, yeh true but those people werent random people off the street, they lived in a different world&played to different rules to rest of us.And as for his 35 yrs min sentence- people bash, rape&kill grannys&kids&innocent women off the street&wouldnt even get that.so ive always found his sentence to be extreme&his crimes to be a little over rated. but anyway thats just my opinion.

Acacia is so strict they have no access to metal implements i.e tools, butter knives, etc the usual killing tools of jail.Carl apparently had info on corrupt cops but to give them up he would have to implicate other crims who were involved. So both sides had motive to want him dead. Its amazing his lasted so long. Also what evidence might he of given police that we dont know about.Perhaps Carls father will sue the government for failing duty of care??Good riddance anyway Carl& his ilk.The underbelly celebrity media status of inbred thug bogans is an embarrassment to Australias culture.Underbelly should be an example of why our public school system should be totally improved. Also our child support/dole system should be drastically cut. Whatever the public thinks about Williams that isn’t the issue here because a man that was supposedly given the most hi tech expensive security allegedly available was murdered in broad daylight. The slackness be it deliberate or otherwise that failed to provide protection inside this prison is another blight on the copybook of the absolute hopelessness of The Brumby government.Everything they run or privatise in this state is completely rutted and getting worse by the minute. Mr Rudd might as well take the prisons over as well as the hospitals to ensure things don’t get worse.

Jason Morans wife, kids and their friends who were at the footy match that day will now feel some form of closure. To here about something this horrific happening in your area is frightening. To experience it first hand, hearing gunshots, breaking glass and screaming all around will stay in these people minds forever. Seeing a gunman race away on foot, never to be found would leave an imprint of fear unabated. Hopefully now they can sleep at night knowing the maniac who did this can no longer give orders from anywhere. Williams wiped out the older males in the Moran family like ethnic cleansing by a dictator. Maybe the Morans lost millions are doing the deeds of dead men from the grave. All will be revealed in time. I wonder how big the party was in Lygon St last night. I think not! 95% of the people in this comment space wouldn’t even have a clue as to what Carl’s life would have been like, nor to the fact, knowing about him, some commenters saying, ‘ All Victorians wanted him dead’ Why?? because you think you know about him and his life, the question is ‘Did you personally know him, were you associated?? NO, so keep your mouth shut. Mr Williams was entitled just alike every other prisoner, if not, more so. This man ordered many contracts yes, yet, Why such a stir, each of the other Underworld figures he put out contracts on were Bad Men, (other Melbourne Underworld figures ), this was NEVER going to end until everyone involved/associated was dead or in jail. The Slain Carl Williams now has had to leave behind his Daughter, to whom will grow up with many problems, so how about thinking about that??? She will be the person that will suffer the most out of all of this, Have some Compassion, the job has been done, so shut up, and stop commenting if you have nothing prodcutive to say, We all make choices in life, some bad…. Whilst I have little sympathy for Carl Williams no human being deserves to die like this. More unfortunate is the legacy he left for his daughter and one can only hope that the cycle of violence within that family stops with her. After reading most of the comments here it truly shows that most people are nothing but a bunch of hypocritical imbeciles. There is no joy in celebrating the death of another human being and by doing so only shows that those people are really no better. The police commissioner must investigate and prosecute the offender to the full extent of the law. This is not about wasting tax payers money murder is murder. Once we start condoning murder because we believe the person unworthy of living we have truly lost all hope.

Let’s get our priorities right here. We should only be thinking about the kids and families whose lives he destroyed through his greed. All his death should do, is bring that to the attention of the public and serve as a reminder to young people of his useless life. He has left a legacy of drug addicts and families trying to cope with the dreadful consequences of drug addiction. If the Police can locate any of his financial gains from his crimes, it should all be paid into organisations to help Victims of Crime – not private education for his child and help for his criminal ex-wife.

This is a result of 25 years of increasing political correctness gaining control of our society in every way. Soft court system, with reduced or suspended sentences e.g. 35 year for 4 murders. police with no powers, and when they try the system lets them out the back door. Prisons set up more comfortable than a lot of peoples homes, with Foxtel, vending machines etc… because prisoner have rights to, “NO THEY DON’T” All this has dragged our society so far down its scary. The streets are unsafe, Motorbike clubs are allowed to set up in South Melbourne and be blessed by Father Bob, your kidding! This is going to get a lot worse, because the very same people will fight for no change. Good luck Melbourne/Victoria we are in for a world of pain and with nobody to help.

They dragged their child into his blood money from the drug world by demanding his kids fees paid for private school. Hows Dahkota going to cope emotionaly when she realises why shes at a nice school. people died for her schooling to be paid… simple its blood money.. no one has been saved from paying them fees.stay out of it roberta hes your ex… and your just as bad.the kid will end up just as screwed up when she knows about the blood money for her. let her be free from this drug world and family should pay for her not others

I am very disappointed by today’s HS exorbitant coverage of Carl Williams’ death. The multi-page wrap around feature is normally the preserve of Heads of State, sporting heroes, international stars and other highly regarded people. Expending similar extravagance on this murderous 50-cent thug and drug peddler confers on him a celebrity status he does not deserve. Misplaced journalsitic feeding frenzy. Wow, the comments regarding the timely death of Carl Williams vary enormously. He was an opportunist and many have commented on the market creating demand. Sadly, this demand shows no sign of changing and some other opportunistic scum-bag will create the supply. As to the comments about Christine Nixon and Simon Overland – LEAVE THEM ALONE! – would you like their jobs? We are all fallible and sometimes timing is just a mistake. Nixon has been portrayed as irresponsible, yet we forget all the wonderful things she has achieved. Overland and the Pirrhana Taskforce have helped clean up our streets so give them a break, they may not be perfect but all the whingers out there are not doing those jobs, are they? As for Carl Williams, he got his just desserts. Live by the sword and die by the sword. Great script for “Underbelly 4″.

Yes a violant drug running lowlife is dead. No Victorian tax payer will have to pay taxes to keep the bastard alive which is something a lot have mentioned. The tax payers of the state will now be footing the bill for the enquiry into his death which will be a hell of a lot more than keeping him behind bars. I cannot and will not feel any sorrow or mercy for Carl Williams but I will say this, no one and I don’t care who they are, deserves to die at the hands of another human being. Yes Carl Williams ordered hits on people to take them out, yes Carl Williams paid other people to get their hands dirty but that does not give anyone the right to do it. The tax payers have been whinging something chronic about keep him alive in gaol at their expense. Do the math and you will realise it was cheaper to keep him in there compared to what the bill will be for keeping is killer behind bars and the investigation into it. The whole thing wreaks of corruption. If this wasn’t a set up then i’m not here writing this. It hasn’t put me off moving to Melbourne but I also know not to expect too much from the force down there, its common knowledge its more corrupt than the underworld itself.

I am sick of hearing that Carl Williams is someone’s son, lover, father, friend and so on. I am a sister of a drop out ciminal junky who once hung out with some of these names we associate with the under world. My brother has parents, has kids and people who loved and looked out for him, but he doesn’t give a crap about any of us now – he made the choice to be a criminal and get into drugs and quite frankly after 22 years of it we as a family decided he was no longer our son, brother, father or friend. People have choices, Carl made his. If his family still love him then so be it, their choice but I don’t feel for them – they know what he is (I do however feel for his daughter, and I hope she grows up like my nieces and understands it isn’t her fault and she is her own person). He chose to kill and be in that life so let’s focus on people who are worthy of our respect and love like Elisabeth Membrey – killed 15 years ago. I would rather find her killer than Carl’s killer. Remember, these people are not in the highest security because they are decent people. they are murderous scum. Yes I am harsh, I have scars all over my body to tell you why I am harsh about these people.

No doubt about it, Carl Williams was scum of the earth but for everyone saying their glad he’s dead is wrong. He got out the easy way. Sweating it out in gaol would have been worse for him than having his life taken. His life in there would have been hell but now he doesn’t have to go through it anymore, I guess you could say its the easy way out for him now and that he got his ultimate punishment. Death isn’t punishment. The United States of America is a perfect example of that. A murderer is put on death row for killing, he knows he’s not going to have to sweat it out for long in gaol because he’s going to the chair or will die by lethal injection. Its an easy way out for the bastards. America is all about God, God bless this and God bless that but their hypocrits. God determines when and how we die, not the judicial system or another human being. To those tax payers having a whinge about how much you just saved by Williams dying? You’ve saved nothing because all your hard earned dollars will now have to pay for an inquiry into his murder and you also have to pay to keep the bastard that did it behind bars. Its the Underworld, there’ll be more deaths now, they call it revenge.

Yet all I hear now is “great Carl is dead” and “did you know what Carl did, he murdered people.” yes Carl did have people killed, but do you know how this started, he was shot in the stomach by Jason Moran, that is how the war between the Moran’s and Carl started. You cannot judge a person when you don’t know properly what he has done and why. So for those people out there (Mick of Albury, Gale of Ballarat) think about Carl’s family and find out why the blood bath started before you say something about Carl Williams

So Carl turns up at the pearly gates and St Peter ( swinging part of his exercise bike) goes: “You can wipe that stupid smile of that there face! For you’re no longer part of the human race! And what’s more… the guy next door also slammed the gates of hell shut, budd! See yeh! Hit the the road Jack! No more! No more! No more!! Meanest old Peter you’ve ever seen!

Yes this man may have killed out of revenge etc.etc. but how sad are all these people with these vile comments about the violent death of another human being. It is indicative of what society has come to – these people who are mouthing off with their attitudes are no better than these gangland figures who believe that they are the law of the land and above the law particularly in Victoria and New South Wales.

Not concerned that he died, concerned that a supposedly maximum security prison is not at all secure. If there’s corruption in the prison system that’s far more concern than the death.

i received a text today a joke about carl williams death how quicky it started.. Yes he was a bad person i will be the first to say it but at the end of the day he still had a family, not saying that anything he did was right , and i strongly think he crossed the line with jason moran infront of children, but he was in jail serving his time, bad mouthing him now isnt going to do any good, he was beaten to death which i cant imagine would of been pretty for all those saying he deserved to die, well no body deserves to die while he was a bad person he still had a family that loved him and i think right now they would be having a hard time and abousolutly slamming him in all the papers is proving nothing. Give it a rest, its disgusting the way Vultures have come out to pick at his corpse so to speak. very disapointing

My GOD, if these murderers can kill each other and then get rewarded with compensation to their families, then I want to be part of their families. It’s not fair us tax payers have to make criminals comfortable in life that we have to struggle to earn a living. What is wrong with our legal system, it’s all for the criminals and not for our society. This is why our society is getting very violent, as there is no strict legal systems here in Australia.

So why should we care what Chopper Read has to say? He’s a criminal too, who glorified his criminal exploits, shouldn’t we also spit out our drinks and have a big old belly laugh when the hepatitis claims him and he kicks the bucket? I know I sure as hell will be! This guy is a coward and a fraud, he acts like he’s the toughest ex-crim going around when the truth of it is that he’s a big scaredy cat! He was happy to take lives, but when his was in danger he got two guys to cut off his ears at the same time – because he couldn’t bear the pain of doing it twice himself – in order to claim insanity and be put in G Division (Psych ward) at Pentridge so he’d be safe! So who’s not much of a man, eh, Chopper? You big loser. And as for Brumby’s comment “I think it would be quite unnecessary and quite an inappropriate us of taxpayers’ money to have a Royal Commission.” – what a hoot! He FINALLY wants to stop wasting my tax payer’s dollars NOW? He’s almost as useless and idiotic as Baillieu…let’s hope we get new candidates for the next state election!!

As A Christian, I am sorry that this man has been murdered; because that is what happened. However one must remember that man murdered others as well, even if the were criminals. The actions that every person, no matter who they are will have to answer for those actions whether they be good or evil. Lets not be happy that one man has died even though, but rather let us recall the words of Jesus Christ; “he that is without sin cast the first stone.”

Of course Brumby doesn’t want an ICAC in Victoria. as his croninies and spin doctors may get caught out. Mind you, his rejection of a royal comssion into Williams’ murder is the best decision he has made since becoming Premier in a de facto manner. Bracks still wants to implemment an ICAC up here in Timor but wouldn’t have one down there

LEAVE ROBERTA ALONE.. so she had a hair appointment? who doesnt have a hair appointment once in a while? and why should people see this as a form of disrespect or not mourning? roberta and carl were close, they had a daughter together, but it came to an end. And of course Roberta would feel upset about Carl’s death. However, when dealing with grief, why must someone have to portray what they are feeling through stereotypes of grieveing persons? Does Roberta really have to not leave the house for a week to let everyone know she cares and is mourning?

Wonder if they will have to lock our kids inside again. Innocent children losing their right to go about their day and play because of a common criminal. Yes that sounds fair.

When is the media going to stop all the bulls**t about what happened in his death. It’s all a load of crap and rumours. Once the media starts reporting facts about this story then I may be interested. Carl did not have to wait 20+ minutes for help. There are checks in Acacia every 15 by guards and every 5 by CCTV. Even with a change of post, He would have only had to wait less than 10 at the most
