What apparently began as a lovers’ tiff ended with Taylor suffering head injuries and seeking a restraining order from the courts against her former partner yesterday.
The Transformers star is believed to have screamed for help in the lobby of the Westin Excelsior hotel during one of “two unprovoked violent assaults” she claims occurred while the pair were holidaying in Rome on the weekend before last.
Police and an ambulance were called to treat Taylor and subdue 33-year-old Newton.
A source close to Taylor said she was adamant Newton was not affected by drugs and alcohol.
Her injuries are believed to include serious bruising after allegedly striking her head on the marble floor.
A hotel duty manager would not discuss the incident, but said: “It was just a big noise during the night.”
One staff member told the Herald Sun the events had been the talk of the hotel.
Last night another alleged incident between the pair came to light with Today Tonight revealing Taylor was found cowering in tears in Newton’s dressing room on the set of the Channel 7 talent quest The X Factor this month.
It was claimed Newton was heard shouting and swearing at Taylor.
Taylor was said to be sobbing and the room had been trashed
