So this is what our worst KILLERS do apart from wasting time and money on appeals and other applications to keep themselves in the spotlight.
THEY WRITE BLOODY BOOKS
What a despicable man this killer is. With total disregard for anybody or anything but himself, how the hell has he even managed to pen this inside jail? He deserves nothing but the very basics, enough to eat, sleep and breath. A few years back he was one of very few, ever allowed out, to go to his mothers funeral. To “Pay respects” He deserves none, this has to end and never see the light of day as a published book. let him use it for toilet paper, and give him none until he has wiped his ass with his all his own…but never to spread his evil…
VICTORIA’S worst serial killer mocks the bereaved relatives of his victims in a chilling new book.
Paul Steven Haigh says loved ones of his seven victims need to get over their “inadequacy” and get on with life.
The Media has obtained a copy of the manuscript in which the killer tries to shift the blame on to his victims.
One chapter contains a harrowing account of two of his murders.
The book, The House of the Blue Light, has surfaced as Haigh battles in court for freedom.
Sentenced to seven life jail terms, he wants to be given a minimum non-parole term.
The manuscript contains a harrowing account of how Haigh murdered Sheryle Gardner and her son, Danny Mitchell, 9, in 1979.
Haigh decided Ms Gardner had to die because she knew too much about his crimes.
“I shot the mother first. Then, while consoling the boy, I shot him with the second gun when his back was turned to me,” he writes.
Haigh says that bereaved relatives should let go of their hatred for him.
“I’ve got no intention of endlessly flagellating myself with memories of murder or anything else,” he writes.
“So the bereaved will have to accept this and content themselves with the knowledge that I’ve served long years in jail for my crimes.
“If the bereaved don’t have the capacity to do what’s necessary to cope with their loss and any hatred for me, then their inadequacy isn’t going to compel me to shed tear for tear or go scream for scream with them.
“Because they can’t climb out of the pit of the past, it doesn’t mean I’m not going to do everything I can to put the past behind me and to find all the happiness I can.”
Haigh says his victims had only themselves to blame.
“I own that I killed people but I won’t be a scapegoat for poor genes, parenting, social support, peer relations or education that led to my victims being what they were and choosing as they did,” he writes.
Bereaved friends and relatives say the unpublished manuscript shows Haigh should never be released.
It describes how he considered killing his own parents.
Haigh concedes that people would recoil if they knew his history.
“I could be as welcome as a wolf among sheep in society, where the choices of people who could think themselves my betters can be seen in the state of the world,” he writes.
WHAT THE MONSTER WROTE ABOUT HIS VICTIMS
1. EVELYN ABRAHAMS, 58
Shot dead as Haigh robbed a Tattslotto agency in September 1978.
“The woman was confronted by a man wielding a sawn-off double-barrel shotgun, not a suitor with roses and chocolates”.
2. BRUNO CINGOLANI, 45
Father of two gunned down in his South Caulfield pizza shop in December 1978.
“The man was confronted by a person wielding a sawnoff single-barrel shotgun, not a friend bearing champagne with which to toast him. In both cases, they acted beyond the scope of instruction”.
3. WAYNE KEITH SMITH, 27
Haigh associate shot dead as he lay in bed in St Kilda Rd flat in June 1979.
“I also went to my victim’s funeral and before the service we stopped at the flower shop to get something appropriate. I went in the same vehicle as the victim’s pregnant girlfriend, sister, brother-in-law and friend”.
4. SHERYLE GARDNER, 31
Blasted to death as she sat in a car at Ripponlea in July 1979.
“I made the woman think she wasn’t going to be shot. I was really only talking to her in order to give my co-offender enough time to take our car about a suburban block away”.
5. DANNY MITCHELL, 9
Gardner’s distraught son who died moments after witnessing the death of his mother.
“It made no sense for us to kill the woman so she couldn’t get us arrested and then leave the kid alive so we could be arrested for his mother’s murder”.
6. LISA MAUDE BREARLEY, 19
Former Haigh girlfriend stabbed 157 times after being lured to Olinda in August 1979.
“I experienced her as a kind-hearted and nice enough lass. Amazingly, it seems I stabbed her 157 times”.
7. DONALD HATHERLEY, 36
Sex offender who Haigh helped hang in Pentridge Prison in 1991.
“People can frown on my involvement with death again whilst in jail, but I distinguish the hanging from the other six”.
