It’s quite chilling. You might get an insight into how the police work in cases like these. Let’s not be naive!
Seems to me that NBC and EBC may be owed a big, public apology?
Wonder what else they’ve got wrong? Feels a bit like Chamberlains all over again this case!

  2. re reading those emails to and from ‘Bruce Overland’, from and to Toni.. I get the distinct impression the little girls were a real point of concern and irritation. Even with Allison gone, they had to be housed and fed and educated and clothed… supervised and overseen.. cynical as I am.. and in light of Gerards chlling emails, I see him as a family anihilator. Deep down, I think that was the plan. the entire family to go. Gerard had mentally absconded from this family group long ago Events just overtook him. Maybe time ran out on him that night..

    its just a thought.

    • A chilling thought, Miss Marps. Imagine how potentially paying maintenance would cramp one’s lifestyle, and how exhausting it must be to keep up a pretence of being a normal, loving husband and father.

      Like

      • maintenance for a long time, and escalating maintenance, too. .. lets take apart, just for the hell of it, Toni’s suggestions to “Bruce” in resolving his immediate living arrangements , that she expects will have to be dealt with, because of course, Gerard is going to lay it out to Allison by the deadline she has set him.. .

(1)….Toni assumes the court will grant shared custody. one week to him, one week to Allison. This is a big assumption, really.. it requires a whole lot of good will, a factor missing entirely on Gerards part…
(2).. Gerard to live with Toni alternate weeks, the week he doesnt have custody. She thinks it’s ‘best’…
(3)…..Apparently, Allison is to find her own accomodation on the week she doesnt have custody…she is to ‘find her own accomodation.’ so on the week Allison DOES have custody, in Toni’s mind, ALLISON moves back into the family home.. Since, according to Toni’s reasoning, the kids dont have to be moved. And on the week Gerard has custody, Gerard moves back in to the family home.
(4)… while performing this convoluted idiocy, requiring yet another rental outlay for Allison that Gerard will most likely be responsible for, plus the rental on the family home continuing, his whereabouts on the week he DOESNT have custody can , and indeed should be kept a secret from Allison, and, I presume, the girls.

        • My interpretation of TMcH’s plan was that upon GBC and ABC separating, GBC would retain the current house, and ABC would move out to some new digs, The Kids would spend their time with Allison at her new digs, and their time with Gerard at the current Brookfield house, and with Gerard staying at Toni’s place the rest of the time.

This would mean that Toni would not be seen to have moved in on Allison’s patch, would not encounter Allison in any changeover, and would not have to bother looking after the girls when GBC had custody.

All very convenient for her, and who cares what the additional rent costs GBC and/or ABC.

While this reveals TMcH as a very self centred and selfish person, there is nothing in her suggestions that indicates she envisaged any physical harm occurring to Allison.

  3. Well my thought of the day is in regard to a loving dead eyed sister figure who wants to be collaborating stories with Gerb at any cost. There is no doubt now she is involved in the cover up if not part of the action on the evening. SFA has revealed a sensational insight into her involvement and attitude…. They are panicking and trying to get stories straight in my view .. Didn’t follow the avoiding self-incrimination for dummies handbook correctly in a few places Gerb?

I have not come across SFA’s post yet, but hope to soon – sounds very interesting.

The first time I saw that sister Olivia face the cameras with her brother (who ofcourse talked in a high pitched, pathetic whimper) her eyes were darting everywhere and she was biting her lip madly. She looked like Lady Macbeth standing there. What I can’t figure out with this warped family is whether or not they are so brain-washed in their insular clan that they are involved in the cover-up and defence of a guilty son and brother, or if they genuinely are forcing themselves to keep up the fairy tale belief of Gerard’s innocence ?

  4. Hoskins has just discounted the caterpillar theory!

11.02am: Asked whether he could discount that the main injuries on Baden-Clay’s face had been caused from shaving, Dr Hoskins said it was extremely unlikely.

“I think it’s extremely, highly implausible but I wouldn’t rule it out absolutely,” he said.

The court was then shown a photograph of lighter scratches on Baden-Clay’s neck.

Dr Hoskins said the marks could also have been caused by fingernails.

“I can’t say whether it was a caterpillar,” he said.

But fingernails were “one possible explanation”, the doctor said.

“These ones could be self-inflicted?” Mr Davis asked.

    “Yes,” Dr Hoskins replied.

A third photograph showed a “patch of injuries” on Baden-Clay’s chest.

Dr Hoskins said it was impossible to say “how many applications of what sort of force could have caused it”

With all the screaming heard on the night, the children must have been aware of what happened.
What is the procedure for taking statements from the children if they were witnesses (visual or oral) to their Mum’s murder?
Can a parent or gardian refuse to allow the police to question them?

      • It is difficult to imagine not one of them hearing any of the commotion going on. Kids do sleep soundly though. …??? I don’t know…..I seem to remember GBC mentioning something in one of his interviews about them being tired that morning, something about cross country or the like, presumably had the previous day.

Not sure why they would still be tired the next day, unless their sleep was disturbed…??? Or why he felt a need to mention their ‘tiredness’.Could they have been given some medication supposedly to help them sleep or aid stiff muscles or some similar reason, that would have knocked them out and they were still a bit groggy? Or is my imagination running wild?

    • I don’t know what the situation is in Queensland currently Kati sorry. Back in the day (showing my age here) Police could only question children without a parent’s consent if the child was under arrest (but a parent or legal guardian being permitted to be present during the questioning). Assuming similar principles still apply, I doubt the children would have been formally interviewed before GBC’s arrest and while he was under suspicion of being involved.

    • Mmmmmm, trying to post a reply to KKL but it is appearing as a reply to another poster.

Anyway, to whom it may concern, my thoughts were whirling reading some of the information available, thinking about those poor damn kids. There is always the possibility I guess that Grandma or Grandpa or Aunty came and collected them while stuff was happening. In fact, weren’t the girls at the grandparents place with their cousins while Allison was having her hair done etc. It would be a blessing if in fact they didn’t have to listen to what would be their worst nightmare…hearing their mother abused.

Bruises on G above right armpit is indicated as stretched clothing over that spot, as one possibility for causing them. I am sure that the professionals dealing with this case will have the scenario worked out as to how things played out, but one can’t help but mentally create the violence that took place. If Allison either died in the spot her body was found, or very soon prior to being placed, I feel sick thinking that she was still alive while being transported. I am wondering whether some of the chest bruising on the left hand side were caused by thrashing feet which caused pain.

Seems bizarre, that with so many weird explanations for different injuries, changed story-lines, etc etc that this painful event is being stretched to excruciating limits in order to prove that the person who most likely committed the crime, didn’t. How does one maintain composure, innocent or guilty, after such an event? The brain structure of a human being capable of killing another must operate in a vastly different fashion to their fellow beings.

Continues to be more saddening and sickening and frustrating and here is poor old Allison seemingly on trial, when she is the victim. I have many secrets that would be not revealed unless in the event of a tragic event like this, and I know that they are such intimately private details of my life, that I would never want every Tom, Dick and Harry rooting through, wrongly judging and casting aspersions of my character etc. But then – ‘The people who mind don’t matter, and those who matter, don’t mind.’ However, it is disgusting that a decent human being seems to be slandered in an endeavour to safe the arse of an unfeeling narcissist +++

I suppose it wouldnt be hard to contaminate childrens perceptions.. it has always been a wonder to me, that on the morning their mother disappears, the kids are shunted straight off to school by Sgt Olivia… her own three children were, I think over at Nana Bwana’s… they were certainly expected at Allisons home that nght for a sleepover.. and they were visiting from out of town, not going to school… ..why did those 3 of Allisons have to face school on that day, in particular?? Mummy missing, Daddy cut all over from ‘shaving’, Granpa Bwana banging about with the vacuum cleaner at 7am, Aunty Olivia barging in and shivvying them into school clothes… but no Mummy.. Mummys clothes, Mummys car, Mummy’s wallet.. all still there at home.. but….

I wonder what was going thru Olivias and Gerards mind as to what KIND of day those girls would have had, waiting AT SCHOOL for some news of Mummys return home?? And what she said to them on that drive.. ..

      • Odd thing, it does not seem Olivia questioned the story she knew GBC having told the children about their mother having fallen down a hole – would someone who is expecting her to merely be detained somewhere during her morning walk not ask GBC what do you mean by that? How can you tell children such a thing? No, instead she just seemingly accepts it as if it’s as normal as eating a bowl of Rice Krispies. Even if she knew which hole Allison had been thrown into, it is still an abnormal thing to tell 3 small children….something very odd about this crowd’s sense of normality…..

  8. Well one thing is for sure, those poor children couldn’t miss it.
At least Bayley had the presence of mind to admit he had done something so incredibly stupid which he should pay for for the rest of his life but Bayden Clay, like all narcissists it is beyond him to admit to having anything to do with this. Just shows you how callous the guy is inside and what startled me was the lack of utter gutwrenching sadness for her loss. All these guys ever do is blame their victims, put on the appearance of a good upstanding citizen and family member when it usually turns out that nothing could be further from the truth. In this instance the victim was his wife, the lady he fell in love with, married and bore children with. Those memories he can never escape. I just wonder what goes through his narcissistic head in the wee quiet hours of his cold hard cell, when he really does realise that life never is all about self and self preservation. How stupid does he think people are to put the razor, caterpillar crap out there in the first place. Sure its possible especially in nightmares. Did he threaten the children if they ever spoke a word? Or did he drug them so they wouldnt hear or remember anything? Were the children tested for this? One has to wonder because anything is possible. But truth lies in the detail and he will never have covered all his tracks so that is where he will be caught out if he found guilty of this crime. And if he’s not guilty, why aren’t his family out looking for who might be???

    • Is it true, Miss Marple, that when we were nicer and more repressed, we might have averted our gaze ? But we’re human which entails curiosity. And curiosity pulled us out of the swamps. Those who peer at crash sites are castigated, but experts believe it’s not because of ghoulishness but from a genuine wish to know just what happens to bodies in a bad crash, just as we study those at the crash site in order to find out how WE would react in the same circumstances

That little prologue was doubtless to justify our interest in this case and our interest in certain individuals in particular. We’re now excused from and immune to accusations of ambulance-chasing and voyeuristic ‘rubber necking’. What we are is social scientists with a strong sense of justice and a penchant for mysteries

All that having been said, I at least will be fascinated to see the first face to face meeting, such as it will be, between Big Tone and the Blob — whenever it may occur. Not for a minute do I believe her hot fantasies have been completely extinguished by anything that’s gone down since those last, torrid texts, lol.

If the Blob didn’t spend his formative years devouring Mills & Boons, then he should be writing them, lol. ‘ It’s agony being away from you like this ‘ . Man, when was the first and last time anyone even in jest considered saying something like that to Big Tone, eh? Nah, she’s hooked, imo. Will take a lot to convince her neediness and ego that he was playing her all the way through. Blobby is Big Tone’s Magic Mirror on The Wall. She probably believes he only had those affairs with other women to protect her by leading that dead woman off the track

  12. DW, a lot of what you’ve written here is similar to my unsent post of late last night.
We have to temper our faith in human nature with an awareness of the utter cynicism with which people like Bayley regard life. By ‘showing remorse’ and asking for the death penalty, he served his own interests. ‘ The accused demonstrated deep remorse, your honour ‘. And gee, it was recorded for future capitalisation too, by the police no less. Bayley knows there’s damn all chance the death penalty will be reintroduced. So he had nothing to lose/much to gain

As to Allison’s accused killer – get inside his head and yes, it is all about him. Allison is the reason he’s being put through this ordeal. If she’d had the decency to self-destruct or simply piss off years ago, he wouldn’t have had to shoulder responsibility. She caused this. Her fault all the way through. And now the legal system is giving him grief also. He just can’t get a break. He’s surrounded by idiots, holding him back. It’s been a lifelong cross to bear. School, parents, the stupid travel agency mob, in-laws, wifey’s dumb friends — all of them leeching off him, sapping his energies, stealing his true potential. All of them too stupid to get through without his having to constantly hold them up, having to say what they wanted to hear. No wonder business went under. Gee, he was having to drag all those anchors behind him. Dead weights, useless. What did he do to deserve all this. He’d shown so much promise. Could-a been a contender, Joey, a social and business heavyweight, if not surrounded by fricken ants. And women — don’t get him started. Women with their constant need for attention, sympathy, compliments, reassurances. Women with their messed-up, complicated bodies and ready-made excuses for their uselessness: PMT, depression, pregnancy tests, biological clocks, waaa waaa waaa. Give him a break ! Bossy, demanding females. All the damn same, all thinking they had him sucked in. When in fact they are suckers — all of them. Too easy. But try to scrape and peel them off, those leeches, and look what happens – you end up being pushed around by this arse of a legal system. Well, he’ll deprive them of satisfaction and will sit in the corner of the cubicle. Let them translate that any way they like. But when this boring circus is over, he’ll be back in town .. maybe not this hick town, but back. Fortunes to be made, suckers to be fleeced, commercials to star in. And the less they see of him now, the easier it will be later to slip back unrecognised into the throng as a new man, even better than before. FREEEEEE DUM !

Not spending it on Allison, that’s for sure. She died in bargain basement clothing. They lived in rented premises and not too swish at that. They drove leased vehicles. Leased business premises. Their social activity consisted of industry junkets, free breakfasts & backyard bar-b-ques. His credit card rejected at the supermarket. Old, jaggedy razors

“What has been overlooked by the media in this terrible tragedy is that Allison was my friend, she was my sister-in-law and I love her.

  32. 4:45pm Marissa Calligeros: The third day of the committal hearing of accused wife murderer Gerard Baden-Clay has ended in dramatic fashion with his former business partner Phillip Broom taking the stand.

Mr Baden-Clay’s defence barrister Peter Davis accused Mr Broom of intending to “sink the boot in” during his testimony.

“Do you like Mr Baden-Clay?” Mr Davis asked.

Mr Broom said, “I’m not going to say that I liked him. I’m not going to say that I didn’t like him.”

“But he was dishonest with money?” Mr Davis said.

    “Yes,” Mr Broom replied.

“Do you like people who are dishonest with money?” Mr Davis asked.

    “No,” Mr Broom replied.

“You’re here to sink the boot in, aren’t you?” Mr Davis asked. Mr Broom disagreed, saying he would hope the pair would buy one another a drink if they ran into each other at a bar.

“You never met him at that bar,” Mr Davis said.

“No, I never met him at that bar.”

It matches a pattern throughout this entire case of stuff being reported – then removed for whatever reason… The most vivid example is the picture of the boxs of childrens toys in the boot of ABC’s Captiva, which GBC evidently packed in there to inject some childhood innocence into that vehicle, to mask the nefarious nature of it’s use in previous 24 hours by himself… It’s very hard to find that photograph (which was part of the evidence at his very first fail-bail application)

                • I don’t know about his input in the lead-up but I will bet the farm NBC has had a huge hand in the aftermath of the murder. He has been directing the whole show. I bet he was the one to tell GBC to report her missing so soon, stupid move in my opinion. Look at how bizarrely NBC acted after the arrest, when he tried desperately to see his son. Again, I will bet that wasn’t parental concern, but rather that he wanted to get into GBC’s ear to remind him to shut his mouth. I reckon OW’s mammoth efforts to speak to her brother in the box was not because she is so concerned about him. There is something else going on there apart from worrying about her brother. She’s quite the child that one, doesn’t seem to have grown. Remember how she refused to budge from the court when there was a bomb scare, like a spoilt little brat. She probably thought they were trying to make the hearing a closed court. I really want to slap her, lol.

I have to get back to the computer expert’s statement too. I know JJE thinks it was Allison who wrote the text about a companion in the sandy but I still don’t (MM wrote something near that paragraph too – “Allison or Toni?”). Anyway, there is oodles of stuff the guy got from the phones but he only mentioned a number of things specifically about persons of interest. Allison is not a person of interest. His job is to highlight things that might be relevant for making a case against GBC, I hope I am explaining my point of view, lol. I tend to ramble.

I don’t think I am making sense but I feel unsettled to think that to get to the truth about an unlawful killing, so many people have to be retraumatised. If there are people who know the truth surrounding Allison’s death and this is somehow discovered, there should be double or triple punishment for those involved. Not just for their part in the crime, but for their hideous, evil and disgusting behaviour since.
I really am naive about the law in regards to these matters but surely there must be some way to find at least one person who was involved to purge themselves of their sins. It is very sad indeed for society as a whole to think monsters like this might exist….. And continue to breed.

  37. Hi RIP
When I was reading through posts on my mobile early this (unfortunately hae difficulty posting from mobile) you queried why I had not answered your question of 2nd March. If you are interested you can go back to that thread and find partiial reply on 5th March (a more detailed earlier reply failed to appear and I had to go back and find links again) and a linked reply on th e 9th).

I also replied to QCLs query regarding to how I felt about a post by Berleigh Beach. Once I had the link I happily replied.

Yes I was in court on Monday and have been working long hours since trying to catch up with news after work and avail myself of a more complete picture. I found the photographs presented in court of GBCs injuries compelling and damning. I had mixed feelings about other aspects of the evidence. I would prefer to bide my time until I have had a chance to read through masses of evidence.

From what I saw on Monday Peter Davies was trying to establish verbal evidence–ready for serious cross examination at trial and I found his methods “interesting”. He was interested in establishing dates for depression, so he could establish a long history. He was very interested indirections and times of screams/human noise presumably so he could highlight
any inconsistencies which became obviouis on Monday. However some noises may have been relevant others may not. There are loads of gaps to fill in to actually get a pattern, loads of which I am sure are answered the the 400+ witness statements. He was also very interested in the evidence base and qualifications of the coroner and Dr Griffiths who examined GBCs wounds
asking about texts and peer reviewed articles. I am sure he has already made notes for a team of little beavers to try and find research that counteracts information/opinions.

I sat in the front left hand row during the morning session where I had the opportunity to observe GBCs reactions. He did sit in the far corner but I walked by this room and there are two seats in the far corner out of site to most of the court. It appears that is how the seating is planned. He for the most part looked stressed but appropriate under the circumstances. When his lawyer went in to speak with him before court started he smilled and shook his hand. I observed a friendly brief conversation with the female security but did not believe it to be flirting. During the actual court sessions both security and GBC sat respectfully. OW did come in during the breaks (clearly after that session had finished) and speak to him through the glass. She also looked understandably stressed and worried and I did not find her actions inappropriate. However, I understand there were some issues when she did the same again yesterday.

As I have just got home from work, have not read all yesterdays news and only scanned some of todays I plan to have dinner and do some further reading.

I was disappointed again to see that posters believe I am a member of the Walton or Clay family or that I am multiple people. I guarantee that neihter OW or GBC smiled, spoke to me or otherwise acknowledged me in court on Monday.

Gee, we’ve burned grey cells and candles over this, haven’t we? Lost a few along the way & gained new blood, but when you look back at how supposedly ‘ordinary’ folk nutted the gist of this out here almost a year ago, only to see most of our speculations confirmed now, courtesy of Mountain Misst’s massively generous documentation, it makes you realise everyday people are not the mindless, superficial, tv-watching spent-forces they’re accused of being by those claiming to have all fingers on the evolutionary-pulse

Just like our great-grandparents, we know what’s-what. We are still able to read people, to winnow the wheat from the chaff, despite Chemtrails, fluoride, chemical-food, genetically modified crops, etc. etc.

Robbo provided us a marvellous meeting-place, so thank you Robbo & hope Life’s being kind to you and yours

And unqualified admiration and gratitude to Yoshi and Mountain Misst for getting our Assembly Hall fixed and redecorated and Russian-free at this, the crucial juncture

                • Dear QCL can I please re-interate that I have stated on a number of occasions that GBC is probably guitly and I have acknowledged my opinion was changing. I was hesitant to post much on Monday because the evidence was a mixed bag. I have only had the opportunity to “scan” the next two days reports and not had time to read all of MMs posted statements (thanks MM for allowing us to share them). Nonetheless I was shocked by the photos of GBCs injuries including the scratches on his face. That in itself was very damning.

From what I have seen GBCs character and dishonesty has been exposed over the next two days. No I don’t think its OK for a guilty person to walk away from a henious crime and carry on business as usual. However, I absolutely believe that in all crimes the evidence should be fully explored (including possible alternative explanation), have the veracity of the evidence tested and allow a properly instructed jury to decide. A group of 12 “ordinary citizens” sitting in a court room, observing body language, the manner in which questions are answered, the strengths and gaps etc are in the best positon to decide. I will untimately accept the decision of the jury. Some of my doubts will probably be put to rest by the end of committal.

Particular thanks to MM for making the witness statements available with well timed releases.

Some on the other site have noted the timing of OW’s Oscar winning performance ( not ) – at the same time as Mr Broome was being grilled – hoping the media would all exit to hear her and miss the bucket he tipped on Gerbs.

With the Patel verdict its 1-0 against Mr Davis, , what are the odds on 2- 0 ?

  40. What seems so tragic as all the statements are becoming public is I am getting a feel for Allison and the girls’ life with that sociopath. He was clearly never home so called working and philandering, he rarely took Allison to functions conferences awards do’s or events. She sounds like she must have been alone so much with the young girls trying to hold it together on her own. I read in a statement by Jocelyn Frost earlier that Elaine BC approached JF early in the piece and told her that Allison suffered depression and that Gerbil had to leave his job at the Flight Centre to care for her. Well that was a lot of rubbish. He was made redundant or the like by that company and tried to sue them. That family are maggots no other word for it. Then we hear a statement that Gerbil had told JF on a couple of occassions that he had belted his daughters and from the other business partner that the young girls were quiet and submissive – subservient. It’s called abuse – spousal and child abuse. Finally have got a real picture of this piece of sh$t sociopath who is usually absent – is a cheat and player – defrauds people in business deals and is a complete pr&*k whin he actually at home. No wonder poor Allison was sometimes depressed. And The girls would have heard every last bit of the montrous night when Allison was murdered but were obviously too intimidated and conditioned to speak out. It is sickening and I know he is feeling no remorse because he is a true sociopath and all tha this implies. He will never confess but what gets me as well is that ugly speech the sister made today. What are they all insane in that family?? Help!

I worked in real estae for 11 years as a salesperson and when the Principal’s wive wasn’t actively involved in the several companies I worked in they would mostly be around – eg drop in and know the staff attend functions and be well known to the employees. As has been stated by some of the witnesses 1. Elaine was extremely protective of GBC and 2. Allison was kept out of the picture. I suppose she had to make excuses for this to explain her son’s tyrrany as I see it.

    • Outrageous – EBC who is keeping such a low profile is also telling porkies – like mother like son!!! Telling others that GBC “had to leave his job at the Flight Centre to care for Allison” who was depressed!! What rot! It is despicable – he was the cause of the depression (I’m pretty sure if I was married to him I’d be depressed too – in fact the mere thought of it makes me feel that way!) , then she uses this to colour people’s perceptions of Allison. She could not bring herself to tell the truth – that GBC was fired from the job! The solution – lie and make Allison whose profile on the co website was already ridiculously simplistic, look even more silly. How kind and loving is that? Keeping up the BC image at ALL cost – even at the cost of Allison’s life in the end. Horrible! Yet OW says this family MOURNS ALLISON DAILY!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

EBC has influenced anothers perception behind Allison’s back. It is what she said ‘about’ her which shows the toxic influence. Wonder how pervasive EBC’s influence within this family? There appears to be a lack of empathy in EBC for Allison IMO.

Baden-Clay told the operator his wife had a seminar in the city and she was planning to leave by 7am.
“I’m now driving the streets. My, my father’s come over and, to look after the children,” he said.”

Called her? I don’t recall any phone call recorded on his phone. She usually goes out for her walk about 6am I have seen him say elsewhere. Not long after 6am Olivia claims Gerard told the kids that mummy probably fell down a hole and won’t be back???? Olivia and NBC were there way too early. They would have had to be called before Allison’s leaving time for walks? Where’s the phone call to the family on his phone? I am now driving the streets? What does his phone location at 7.15 am say? As I haven’t seen this last point in particular mentioned, I have to wonder of prosecution looked into that.

Even if he gets an order he does not like, he must do as soldiers and sailors do, he must carry it out all the same because it is his duty; and after he has done it he can come and state any reasons against it: but he must carry out the order at once. That is discipline.”

Did GBC maybe phone home on the night of 19/20 April to say “I have just done a terrible thing, I must phone the police” and he was perhaps ordered not to and instructed since on what to do and what not? Just a small possibility…???
I am a little bit concerned here about possible scout master influence, especially since the boss man took care of their finances, no recent will for Allison could be found, rumour surfaced about him being seen at the bus stop in Kenmore late on the fateful night, and I just read tonight that he the financial guru had cancelled GBC’s life insurance (confident he was not going to die anytime soon) but NOT Allison’s (now why would he do THAT?????????????? Anyone notice his facial expressions in his interview, as he talks about the “Blood curdling screams” where other neighbours described those terrible, terrible, cries for help differently to him, the other witnesses all had the same description in common, although different to Flegg’s?

Bruce Flegg, in my opinion, was lying about hearing screams that night to be part of this situation. Watch his face, his eyes. He was a friend of Germ’s – wait – of course, he is the same, now Flegg wants the attention and happily twists the knife into Germ. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy-clappy

Happy-clappy, or Happy clappers, is a derogatory term originating in the United Kingdom, referring to a style of Christian worship particularly evident in Evangelical and Pentecostal churches. The term came into household knowledge in that country in the late 1990s after a reported remark by the former Archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie, criticising what he perceived as the shallowness of such worship.[1]
This style of worship involves joyful congregational worship songs, often accompanied by acoustic guitars and drums in which the congregation clap along to the rhythm of the song, or raise one or both hands in the air, and occasionally dance. Christian critics of this style of worship, of which Runcie was one, object to what they perceive as simply the rousing of emotion rather than properly focusing on God. Supporters counter that this style is more relevant and therefore accessible to ordinary people.
Unlike many derogatory terms, it has not been adopted by groups that practice it, who prefer to call it “charismatic” or “spirit-led” worship.

I have no qualifications whatsoever but from where I sit which is a long way away I think she is grieving many things including a childhood lost, the bond with her brother broken, missing Allison even if she didn’t really always get along, missing the relatively normal life they all used to know, wishing none of this was happening. I don’t think she had anything to do with it but I think those that did are sitting back watching her take all the crap for the entire family. I think she wants to believe he is innocent but cant find a reason why he is. I think she tried to help not realising that she was being scrutinised even for taking the kids when she did. Its very sad to watch her hope fade and I think she will do anything she can to cling to that hope. I want to know what went down with the NBC and TM, time will tell and I don’t for a second think GBC is innocent at all. I just believe that he would do anything to cover his own butt even lie to his own mothers face just to save himself. Just my two cents for what its worth.

    • DW, if you research narcissism you will have a better understanding of his behaviour, I also note some people are questioning where the money went, narcissists are hopeless with money.

This is from a mental health community so nothing untoward:

Money stands for love in the narcissist’s emotional vocabulary. Having been deprived of love early on in his childhood, the narcissist constantly seeks for love substitutes. To him, money is THE love substitute. All the qualities of the Narcissist are manifest in his relationship with money, and in his attitude towards it. Due to his sense of entitlement – he feels that he is entitled to other people’s money. His grandiosity leads him to believe that he should have, or does have more money than he actually has. This leads to reckless spending, to pathological gambling, to substance abuse, or to compulsive shopping. Their magical thinking leads narcissists to irresponsible and short-sighted behavior, the results of which they believe themselves to be immune from. So, they descend to debt, they commit financial crimes, they hassle people, including their closest relatives. Their fantasies lead them to believe in financial (fabricated) “facts” (achievements) – incommensurate with their talents, qualifications, jobs, and resources. They pretend to be richer than they are, or capable of becoming rich, if they so resolve. They have a love-hate ambivalent relationship with money. They are mean, stingy, and calculating with their own money – and spendthrift with OPM (other people’s money). They live lavishly, well above their means. They often go bankrupt and ruin their businesses. Reality very rarely matches their grandiose fantasies. Nowhere is the grandiosity gap more evident than where money is involved.

      • Yep, agree on the recklessness with money and, having had a financial interest in a medium sized real estate company, the maths don’t add up at all, based on the limited info presented by the partners.

If GBC was taking $5k a week, and had a full time clerical person on the books and he wasn’t selling…wow, that’s a fixed overhead hard to jump over when the comm split is 70% to agent and 30% to House. Throw in the massive, massive overhead of the new office and it would even be hard to make this work in the good times, let alone a depressed Brisbane market wracked by flood. The Century21 Westside plane was always heading to the crash site….surely Charles T knew this!

The rental roll was never going to save him. He valued it at $680k somewhere in the documentation…this would indicate a gross comm to house of around $250k pa…less wages of say 3 support staff doesn’t leave much spillage.

No question…GBC was taking more than his fair share as the creditors are finding out.

It’s going to be difficult for GBC valuing his time at $2 an hour in jail and getting used to the new currency…cigarettes and dropped bath soap!

          • No MM, I was unaware that the forensic accountants had presented. Have they?

I took my facts from a few info grabs in the Frost and Broom affidavits and then applied a few of the key indicators which apply to the RE industry. For example, a rent roll will sell for between 2 and 3 times gross commissions.

RE is a pretty simple business model requiring ruthless control of overheads and admin staff numbers. Most smart operators work to the formula that the rent roll covers expenses and gives the owner a modest, modest wage…so in tough times you just make a living and the good times are when you should be putting the acorns away.

I don’t think Century21 Westside were smart operators…in fact, they look like a case study of what not to do.

It’s a wrecking ball environment, the stress it brings and the damage it causes is incredible. For the record we are all narcissists in our late teens and even into our early 20′s, where we dream of high achievements, however reality shapes who we become and those of us who embrace reality turn out to have a more balanced perspective of life compared to those that don’t embrace reality, the worst of whom turn into full blown narcissists.

  50. Pingback: Gerard Baden-Clay Committal Hearing – 18 March 2013 | Aussie Criminals and Crooks

  51. Good afternoon everyone…

I have just finalised a new GBC post recapping the past three-days and in anticipation of the continuation of the committal next week.

The new post has links to the Courier-Mail’s daily coverage, some of the reports/witness statements etc (a couple are pending, but they will be up soon) and OW’s presser from yesterday for anyone who may have missed them.

By all means continue to comment here regarding the last few days, but for ease of access, it may be best to use the new post for comments come Monday so we don’t clog this one up too much and spend all day scrolling through old comments… :-)

Can be found here (hopefully!) http://aussiecriminals.com.au/2013/03/14/gerard-baden-clay-committal-hearing-18-march-2013/

        • Yes thanks Yoshi, it is very time-consuming going over old posts to catch the replies.
In this respect the format we once used int he past where all posts were shown chronologically seemed to me to work much better. One could just pick up from the place you last left off. It was MUCH less time consuming, so helped a lot if one did not want to miss gem postings but had limited time to read daily. Everyone just referenced the post they were replying to by name and time. Does anyone else remember and perhaps also prefer this option, or not? If so is there a chance we could set up the next thread that way? If not of course I’ll go with the flow. This is just a thought and suggestion.

          • Was thinking the same thing, RIP. It’s very easy to miss replies to earlier posts, and that’s a shame. I don’t mind referencing a previous post when replying – it’ll certainly be less time consuming than trawling backwards and forwards.

  52. RIP/RB,
I agree with you both that the old way was a lot easier to follow. I think I’ve missed heaps of posts because I don’t know how to tell when a new post appears between two older ones, other than the obvious oneof reading them all again and I’m far too busy sending Gerb happy postcards from all over the place to do that!
Yoshi thanks for all your time and patience, it’s really appreciated. xo

    • I am more than happy to go with the consensus. Personally, I find it a little difficult to follow earlier replies and probably prefer the old format with referencing earlier comments.

That said, presumably, there was a reason why there was a change back in the first place??? Also, I don’t seem to have access to be able to change the comment format. If however there’s a majority that prefer the “old way” I’ll see if I can call upon the wordpress “Gods” to see if it can be changed… Otherwise, we might have to make do with current arrangements…

I kept trawling through older posts to catch the replies and there are absolute gems – but it is awfully time-consuming because it’s unavoidable to read a lot of old stuff over and over again. It will be really good if you can try and organise the chronological (not reply) format with the new thread Yoshi!!!

  53. Ok, one of the hard drives that was taken from the house of GBC had a directory “Nigel’s Documents”. Items included tax invoices, superannuation stuff and Centrelink statement. Another document was called AXA – Cancel Gerard’s policy (created 15/3/11. The computer guy filed that information as “Cancellation to Gerard Baden-Clay AXA life insurance policy”.

The conversation about the sandy car was retrieved from an iPhone backup to computer (or iCloud, one or the other but not important). The text message was obviously flagged because it was received by him the day before Allison disappeared. He also backed that iPhone up later that same day – the 18th, yeehah ;)

On one of the laptops was a cash flow spreadsheet which showed debts of $1,149,000.

On a black USB drive a number of photos were noted as being of interest and the computer guy bookmarked these as “Picture of Interest – Possible MP”.

Oh, and in text he sent to Allison’s phone at 6.41 am on the 20th, he says where are you, the app doesn’t say. He has the Find My Friends app installed (with location services on) and surprise, surprise, surprise, the app hadn’t been used….. OW, ya scummy brother is guilty through and through.

So that’s another lie….clearly documented… Amaaazing, I know i keep repeating myself…….but at some point in time you would think they’d realise their game is up….crazy!

Don’t know what the sandy car bit is about …. Unfortuntely, I have little time over the week-end so will have to check it out next week……I’m sure I’ll have plenty of time between then and the trial to suss all the information MM has shared with us……..yes….I do believe, with even the little awareness that I have when it comes to the law – i’d bet my bottom dollar, there’s gonna be a trial….

  54. For what it’s worth here’s one possible hypothetical version of the events that lead to Allison’s ‘disappearance’ on 19/20 April 2012 – in broad strokes:
    • GBC’s life was a charade. He pretended to be a pillar of society, when in reality he was a liar and serial adulterer whose personal life was in shambles. He regularly betrayed the trust of people who placed trust in him. His wife of 15 years suffered very much emotionally, his partners and the many people he borrowed money from suffered financially. He strung along several mistresses, who no doubt all regret they ever believed a word he said. He grew up in an atmosphere of semi-military style scout culture, due to a distant (g-g-grandfather) ancestor with questionable integrity according to some sources, having founded this movement. The aspiring ‘elitist’ family even changed their name by deed poll to reflect this ancestral link.
    • GBC was in SERIOUS financial strife. He owed about $1million,having pretended to run a business that was going under due to what appears to be financial malpractice way beyond the point that it should have kept its doors open, by borrowing large sums of money from friends and business contacts. Most of these loans were payable by mid-year 2012. He tried at least one more desperate attempt to get money from Bruce Flegg, but failed.
    • GBC ‘s one mistress was particularly forceful and manipulative, and put a LOT of pressure on him to get his finances in order, leave his wife and move in with her (at least on alternate weeks when they were both child-free according to her plan). She ultimately gave him an ultimatum – this had to be achieved by 1 July. Not sure what would have happened if he did not oblige, but he agreed. From this point onwards, he was on the clock.
    • The ONLY problem was, the only way GBC could get his hands on $million to settle his debt, was if his wife was to pass away so he could inherit all her insurance money which totaled close to $million. He may have started to think about this possibility more and more late 2011, he had his father cancel his own life insurance (did not care about how Allison and the kids would cope without him!), but made sure to keep Allison’s life insurance. Early in 2012 he made enquiries about her insurance policies just to be sure all is in order and there will be no problem claiming….
    • Mid-year was fast approaching, the pressure was on to put the plan into action, so the insurance pay-out could take place before his debts were due to be paid. It would have to look like suicide or ‘foul play’ by some stranger, but her body would need to not be found for some time so that no DNA or other evidence can point to him. He’d have to cover his tracks, pretend his affair was over and he was working on repairing his marriage. He created multiple phone identities to communicate to the main (and likely other) mistresses, under false names. On 18 April he googled ‘pleading the 5th’.
    • Not sure which day the plan was to be carried out, but on 19 April a decision was made to enact it. To start with Mistress Toni discovered that she and Allison were both going to attend the same real estate conference the next day, and she ordered that Allison was NOT to go. GBC was in a tight spot – he would have to tell Allison she was not to go….Allison on the other hand was unaware of all this, unaware that the affair has continued, and enthusiastically had her hair done beautifully that day in preparation for attending this function. In doing so she also unknowingly more or less emptied their bank account, so his card was rejected and he could not conclude a transaction at the shops on the way home. That must have been humiliating and made him see red. Perhaps gave him more courage to order that she will NOT attend the function….perhaps also made up his mind that this was the night to put his plan into action…??
    • Maybe after the kids went to bed he let fly about the hairdo and the empty account first, then tried to forbid her to attend the function. She would have objected to this in the strongest terms and I suspect in the exchange following she worked out the real reason – that his mistress would be there and does not want her there, and that he has lied to her about working on the marriage and that in fact the affair was ongoing….I think she realized that night the marriage was nothing but an empty shell and well and truly over. What she would not have realized is that he did not just want to just leave her, he wanted to kill her….it must have been a terrible shock when she realized what was going on. She managed to yell out twice, fought back tooth and nail (literally)….but sadly he overpowered her in the end…..Suffocated and strangled her with a pullover….
    • Neighbours heard arguing, yells ect, but no one expected a murder was in progress. No one phoned 000. Dogs barked, again no one investigated….
    • Her tooth broke in the struggle, tongue and lips cut, bleeding quite profusely. Blood trickled down into the back of the vehicle she was transported in. Allison was discarded like a piece of rubbish below Kholo bridge, by one or more persons, Either thrown over and moved under the bridge, or swung to land under the bridge where she would not be visible from above and would not be found for a week or more. Big clean-up operation launched at the house. Likely one or more helpers in attendance.
    • The next morning GBC sported a mosaic of nail scratches and bruises on his upper body, face and hand from the life and death struggle from the previous night. He sent two phony text messages to her, signed love G, pretending he’s the caring husband worrying about her late back from walking, and her phone was switched on to receive them. “Self- incrimination’ was googled one more time and police called to report a ‘missing person’. Kids were told just after 6am their mom had fallen down a hole and would not be back, they were taken to school by aunt Olivia. Dad supposedly there to fetch a vacuum cleaner and hose to clean a property. When asked about the 2 very bad scratches onhis face – said it was from a blunt shaver….the start of lie upon lie….
    • He or a helper hid Allison’s phone nearby so the search for her would remain in the Kenmore/Brookfield area. The BC’s retreated to scull manor, did not participate in search. He left the funeral arrangements to Allison’s family while going away on his scheduled labour day long weekend holiday. No BC family member, not even GBC, had a single good word to say about Allison, not even at the funeral. Many others have expressed deep love and affection for her. She was a talented, kind, loving daughter, mother and friend to many, who will miss her deeply forever.
    • Allison was betrayed in the worst possible way by a person who did not deserve her love. A person who not only caused her much pain and suffering in life, but also robbed her of her life.
Allison and her family, especially her 3 young girls, deserve justice. May justice be served and Allison rest in peace…..

    Like

    • I do believe justice will be served. We have only seen the tip of the iceberg regarding evidence, albeit circumstantial. I think the prosecution will continue to work their butts off for this case while waiting for the trial. It must have been hard for GBC to sit on his hands waiting for the body to be found but at the same time knowing she had to be given a certain amount of time missing to clear possible incriminating DNA. Unbelievable isn’t it, that he didn’t even wait for the positive ID of Allison’s body before contacting the insurance company again? Look at the way Nige raced off from the office that day, just after the detectives came to tell GBC they had found a body. Why the rush Nige? You looked like you couldn’t care less about consoling your “grieving” son. Oh wait, you didn’t care. Obviously the next step of the plan was about to start but at least you could have put on a bit of a show.

      • Did we ever find out why Nige raced off from the office? Instead of putting a protective arm around his boy? He consoles his son on the morning Allison is ‘missing’, but races away the minute she’s found. . .dead? Strange, strange people.

        • Agree RB: “He consoles his son on the morning Allison is ‘missing’, but races away the minute she’s found dead?” Where was sense of loss? compassion for his grieving son? …absent because they knew about it already IMO.

      • Yea Ozmosis…I am very suspicious about NBC’s involvement. After all he was supposedly their ‘financial advisor, he cancelled BGC’s life insurance late 2011 BUT LEFT ALLISON’s (did he mastermind the financial rescue plan???), he must have had control of their wills too, and I do not believe for a second the one they handed over dating back 15 years was Allison’s most current one. If so he would have been a terrible financial advisor, I don’t buy this at all. Remember how he followed GBC like a tail the first week or two, I think he is very controlling and wanted to make sure he does not put his foot in it anywhere. Him racing off to to the office as soon as A BODY was found, before it was even identified – was it to claim her life insurance?? How did they KNOW it was HER BODY??? I won’t be surprised if he helped facilitate the sale of the house from jail too. This old man imagines he’s the boss of all and seems heavily involved….I may of course be wrong but it will not surprise me in the least if he is the master puppeteer behind a lot of what we have seen and will still see….

            • Reminds me of something Allison wrote in her journal, wondering if he really was sorry about his affair or sorry he got caught. Clearly the latter. I think it’s the same applies to her murder, he’ll only be sorry about being found guilty, not about doing it.

It is clear having been so disconnected emotionally from Allison before and since her murder, he does not have feelings like most of us, the entire family seem to be devoid of what comes naturally to most. Outliers in the far reaches of the normal distribution curve….

Even Toni may just have been used. His idea of ‘I love you’ is very superficial. If she did not have money I doubt she would have been in the picture.

Dear QCL can I please re-interate that I have stated on a number of occasions that GBC is probably guitly and I have acknowledged my opinion was changing.

  56. Been a thinkin’ bout the relationship ‘tween GBC and TMcH. Apart from sex, what could have been so attractive to him? Just guessin’ – she had money. Yeah. She was a successful woman of independent means. Yeah. She was a valuable employeed of GCB’s business. Yeah, he allegedly said so. She had borne sons, something GBC didn’t. Speakin’ hypothetically, if they formed a blended family, would the younger sons assume the name “Baden-Clay’? Could the ‘golden son’ i.e. GBC have produced with TMcH the all important ‘golden male child’ for the BC heritage?
Could this have been a factor as GBC was still young enough to produce another child with somebody else? How important was this Baden-Clay heritage pressure?

  57. I think it was just sex amd money Caro. She is older that hin and probably not in a position to have another child. Anyway the son Gerbil and the rest have given the illustrious name if not fame – infamy. Safe to say not too many who don’t know about the BC heritage now.
