  1. Migrant teen criminals face deportation in gang crackdown – Yahoo! 7 News – Violent Migrant teen criminals face deportation in Apex gang crackdown.
Young migrant offenders could be deported when they turn 18 under a new “two-strike” policy being considered by the federal government.
Immigration minister Peter Dutton said violent offenders, such as those reportedly associated with Melbourne’s Apex gang, would also find it harder to get Australian Citizenship thanks to a more stringent “character test”.
“The Commonwealth is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of the community and is keen to look at additional measures off the back of the success with outlaw motorcycle gangs, the Federal Immigration Minister said.
Violent riots in Melbourne and in Youth Justice prisons last year were just one of the incidents that turned attention to a gang of teenagers believed to be of African origin.

Under the current laws in the Migration Act, dual nationals sentenced to more than 12 months in prison, or who are convicted of sexual crimes against children have their visa’s automatically cancelled.
The proposed reforms would also include two anti-gang hubs in Melbourne’s west and southeast, which would be co-run by the Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police, social workers and migration officers.

Earlier this month, Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said that migrants committing violent crimes should expect to be “shipped back to their own country”, amid news the Federal Government was considering lowering the age of deportation to 16.
“If people are committing crimes on our streets, often violent crimes, often crimes of robbery, taking cars off people … if there’s an opportunity to move those people offshore, we’re in favour of that, frankly,” Commissioner Ashton said.

The moves come after several years of violent crimes in Melbourne including the Moomba riots, several costly prison riots, countless carjacking’s, armed robberies, assaults and home invasions.
Many of the crimes have been blamed on a gang made up of teenagers of African decent in a criminal gang known as Apex.
A Victorian politician backbencher Jason Wood, who himself is the victim of an aggravated burglary, has been pushing for a joint Federal and State Government approach.

  2. Silent vigil to mark Ronald Ryan hanging – skynews.com.au – Friday 3 February 2017. – The 50th anniversary of the last execution to be carried out in Australia will be marked with silence today, at the site of the former Pentridge Prison in Melbourne.
Former Pentridge Prison chaplain Peter Norden says the speeches would detract from the solemnity of the occasion, which marks the moment Ronald Ryan was hanged for the murder of Prison Officer George Hodson. Mr Ryan was hanged on 3 February 1967 in Pentridge Prison, at the time of the execution, 5000 people gathered in angry protest outside. Father Peter Norden supported an exhumation of Mr Ryans body from the former prison site in 2007,where he conducted a private funeral service on behalf of Ryan’s three daughters.
Mr Norden, Adjunct Professor at RMIT University, said Amnesty International, Liberty Victoria, Reprieve Australia, the Victorian Criminal Bar Association and the Building Industry Group of Unions are among those supporting the vigil. ‘ People who are concerned about the continuation of executions in the Asia/Pacific region are very welcome to join us. The silent vigil will be held between 7.30 and 8.15am at the Old Pentridge Prison site in Coburg, while a Victorian Supreme Court re-enactment of parts of Ryan’s trial will be held from 4.30pm.

Death Penalty anniversary sparks Law Council calls reviewing …au.news.yahoo.com/a/34332591/death-penalty-anniversary-sparks-law-council-calls-reviewing-police-tip-off-rulesd/
On the 50th anniversary of the last person executed in Australia.
Friday February 3, 2017 marks 50 years since Ronald Ryan was hanged in Pentridge Prison D.Division on the 3rd February 1967, at the time of the execution,5000 people gathered in a angry protest outside the Pentridge Gaol in Coburg.
Today people and some of the original people against capital punishment at the time in 1967 are again back at the old main gate clock tower having a peaceful vigil once again against the use of the death penalty, just outside the now long closed Pentridge Prison main entrance.
Later in the day there was a Supreme Court re-enactment of parts of the Ronald Ryan trial.

Former H.M.Pentridge Prison chaplain Priest – Father Peter Norden was the speaker at the vigil, who replaced in the 1980’s the late famous Father John Brosnan ,known as ‘Bros’, ‘The ‘knock about priest’ or ‘the inmates mate’ as he was nicknamed. Father Brosnan died in 2003, aged 83,and he was present before and during the 1967 Ronald Ryan hanging as a priest and supportive friend, to give Ronald Ryan his last rites, in the then most dreaded place in H.M.Pentridge a H.Division condemned cell and then on to the condemned cell in D.Division cell block where the hangman’s gallows were for him to be hanged. Father John Bronson who was the Pentridge Gaol Priest for 30 year. Started in Pentridge as a chaplain in 1953. He was a much loved figure in the gaol by the prisoners of the times and over the many years as a caring trustworthy devout man true to his Christian vowels and faith as a humanitarian Jesuit priest.

His full biography was written by journalist Tom Prior in 1985, called ‘The Knockabout Priest’.
Tom Prior first met Father Brosnan as a witness at Ryan’s execution. he said, “Ryan returned to his faith just before he died. He said he was saved by a saintly nun and a knockabout priest.
Journalist Tom Prior recalled the funeral of a prisoner at which another inmate took exception to Father Bronson’s eulogy. “He didn’t even believe in god,” the prisoner shouted. Father Brosnan replied: “He does now”.
Former Federal Australian Labour Party president Barry Jones got to know Father Brosnan while campaigning to save Ronald Ryan. “We used to spend hours and hours together, agonising over the Ryan case. He always had impeccable dignity, faith and courage,” he said.

The late Billy “The Texan” Longley, the Painters and Dockers Union hardman who served 13 years in H.Division Pentridge for murder, said Father Brosnan was a much loved figure in the jail.
“He didn’t smile, he beamed when he saw you. He used to say to me, ‘Billy, you skid further on bullshit than on the gravel’. It was his way of saying violence isn’t how to solve things.”

There was an extensive Pentridge Prison mugshots collection of inmates and violent prison bashing and murders in Pentridge and other Victorian Prison. But what ever become of them is unknown to me. It would be interesting if some of the thousands of these prison crime scene and mugshot photos were ever saved and stored in cardboard archive boxes for future viewing. But sadly this may not be the case, as often is the case. And they could have been lost or even destroyed by the powers that be in charge of the prisons archives prior to the digital photography age before the year 2000s. Also stupid Privacy laws in any case will see they never become available for any online or general public viewing if they did at all survive. But they definitely existed and many of them were very horrible to view, with blood and gore of the many violent prison crimes committed on Pentridge Prison prisoners by fellow prisoners in the 1970s to 1990s…But I’m not probably supposed to make this public as a former Pentridge Prison Officer.
But they should be made available for people interested in Australia’s grim and convict and criminal history with the age if the internet with everything and anything on it for public viewing…

  7. CCTV emerges of Victoria Ravenhall Prison Riot – New footage has emerged of the destructive 15-hour riot at Victoria’s H.M.Melbourne Remand Centre Ravenhall Prison in 2015.
The shocking video footage captured during the prison riot show inmates driving a front end loader and trucks through prison fences and lighting fires, smashing off prison cell doors during the tens of millions dollars if destructive damage in 2015.
The CCTV footage, obtained by Seven News, shows prisoners lighting fires, ramming through fences with vehicles and unscrewing cell doors to let other prisoners escape during the 15-hour riot.
The riot at H.M. Ravenhall Metropolitan Remand Centre started a day before a smoking ban was due to take effect on August 1, 2015.

Body cam footage shows Prison Officers being ordered to retreat to the prison gatehouse before prisoners set guard stations on fire and drive and ram vehicles through fences to access secure areas.
A van full of staff is also seen narrowly escaping as inmates chase after it armed with metal poles.
The States Corrections minister said it was only a matter of time before an incident like this occurred at the prison.
“It is simply the truth that it was understaffed, crowded, under resourced and it was a time bomb that was going to go off. And it did,” Corrections Minister Gayle Tierney said.
The riot caused an estimated $12 million dollars damaged. The 7News video of the CCTV riot damage has been since removed from online for public viewing?… 7News Melbourne – https://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/

  8. Department of Justice and Regulation say $12 million dollars damage caused at H.M. Ravenhall Melbourne Remand Centre?
Lawyers for the Department of Justice and Regulation appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last week after it was charged by Worksafe Victoria over the prison riot.

The Department of Justice and Regulation faces four charges and is accused of failing to provide a safe working environment at the prison between January 1 and June 30, 2015, according to court documents.

Worksafe Victoria also alleges the Department of Justice and Regulation failed to persons other than employees were not exposed to risks to health and safety.
More than 100 inmates were later charged over their involvement in the riot.
The Department of Justice and Regulation will return to court on April 6, 2017.
Some of the Prison Officers and staff victims at the Maximum Security Prison have not returned to their careers suffering from long term effects of Post Traumatic Stress and injuries and being experiencing the very frightening prison riot. The siege included 18 traumatic events, two assaults on Prison Officers and 49 cases of occupational violence. The 15-hour riot involved up to 300 prisoners… The riot had a major impact on staff.
The first inmate JONATHAN LUCA ,22, to be sentenced over the largest Prison Riot in Victoria’s history has been given only a pathetic soft ‘one year’ added to his minimum sentence for the riot. Which is a total insult to Prison Officers involved in the frightening riot. It is slap on the wrist, especially as the minimum damage bill from the prison riot is estimated up and over $12 million and damage repairs even cost more than $20 million dollars to replace, repair and make high security upgrades to the Maximum Security Prison… A total of 102 prisoners were charged over the riot.

‘Law of the jungle’ cannot take hold : Judge
Chief Judge Peter Kidd said JOHNATHAN LUCA was not involved in planning the violence but energetically contributed to “the sense of the anarchy”.
“The courts cannot permit the law of the jungle to take hold of prisons,” he said.
He said LUCA had “wholeheartedly” embraced the riot by covering his face with a black t-shirt and encouraging others to take part.
“The riot had a major impact on the staff at the MRC,” he said.
“Some of the staff reported psychological injuries such as reoccurring nightmares and ongoing stress.
“It has affected the way they now interact with the prisoners on a day to day basis”.
The court heard JONATHAN LUCA was captured on security camera “strutting around” , smashing glass windows with a pole and helping loot the canteen.
He later wrote a letter to his partner in which he described the prison as “smashed to bits”.
LUCA has already spent about 18 months in custody. He would have been eligible for PAROLE in April 2017 after serving an unrelated sentence for causing injury and property damage, but will now spend at least one more year behind bars.

So why isn’t this violent Rioting Prisoner and his other 102 charged rioting prisoners not being charged with an act of terrorism in one of Her Majesties Maximum Security Prisons, which would carry a very significant longer prison sentence, instead of only 1 year… Terrorism can and should carry up to a life sentence behind bars… All these rioting prisoners are violent dangerous terrorists, as are also the recent violent Youth “CHILDREN – CLIENTS” as the ‘do-gooders’ want them all called, who also recklessly rioted and wrecked the State of Victoria’s government youth jails also causing many more untold millions of dollars damage in the Parkville and Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre Prisons and after escaping even more costly damage and traumatised and assaulted victims of their crimes during their fugitive crime spree’s and evading apprehension by the police.

So why are the courts Justices not sending these rioting prisons away for years in Super max prisons as the all should be.?

Apparently 100 million dollars and possibly a much higher cost of repairs and rebuilding of new prisons to hold them, is only worth a mere extra one year to all these rioting inmates sentences… What a slap- on -the -wrist joke is this? 1 year maximum jail for rioting and criminal damage…
That sends out the message to the crims in jail, no consequences for starting and committing a prison riot…Mean while good Prison Officers careers have ended by the traumatic effects from experiencing these very scary riots…

  9. ‘GUARD INJURED IN VICTORIAN YOUTH JAIL AFTER ANOTHER RIOT’

Capsicum spray (OC spray and specialist trained Prison Correctional Officers had to be used to subdue rampaging teens after a fight broke out at a Victorian Youth Justice Centre.
Corrections Victoria Prison Officers used capsicum spray to force back youths who injured a Prison Officer during yet another riot at a Victorian youth prison in the H.M.Barwon Maximum Security Grevillea unit which is holding dangerous violent Youth inmates who are two dangerous to be held in the recently rioted Malmsbury and Parkville Youth Justice Centre Prisons.

The Prison Officer was assaulted on Monday night during a Youth prison riot trying to break up a fight at the maximum security Barwon Prison near Geelong, special purpose Youth detention Unit for the growing number of very uncontrollable dangerous violent Youth inmates.
He is in hospital being treated for a facial injury.

Corrections Victoria Commissioner Jan Shuard said the Prison Officers were forced to use the capsicum spray for their safety.
“OC spray is a defensive weapon that we can use for the safety of our staff and the people there,” she said on Tuesday. “It was used for that purpose”.

Sixteen young offenders barricaded themselves in an exercise yard after the fight and armed themselves with prisoners gym equipment.

Corrections Assistant Commissioner Craig Howard was at the unit during the riot and said the youths also managed to break into the visitors’ centre and armed themselves with items nearby.
“A number of the offenders had sourced items that were in there and in the visitor’s centre, “he said.
“There’s gym equipment in there, windows, there are fire extinguishers.”

Extensive damage was caused to prison CCTV cameras, down pipes and prison exercise equipment.
The teen inmates eventually surrendered to Emergency Response Team Prison Officers just before 10pm, with the Specialist Riot control Corrections Officers using handcuffs to subdue them.

Corrections Victoria says repairs will be made as quickly as possible and charges are expected to be laid.
Young offenders were sent to the Grevillea Unit at H.M.Barwon Maximum Security Prison late last year after the Malmsbury and Parkville Youth detention centres were extensively damaged by these youth inmates causing millions of dollars of damages to the two youth prisons in this years and last years prison riots. The damage caused to Parkville is so bad that only part of it can be now used, and the Victorian Government will close it down when they can build a new maximum high security Youth Justice Centre Prison for dangerous teen youth inmates. The Human Rights Legal Commission lawyers and a Court Judge have ruled that it is against the “Children Clients” Human rights to lock them up in an Adult Maximum Security Prison. And they are going to take legal action against the Victorian Government, if they are not discharged and sent back to low security Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre. But the Victorian Government has defied the court order and in an act of parliament ,gazetted and reclassified the H.M.Barwon Prison High Security Grevillea Unit as a ‘Youth Justice Centre’ to securely hold the most violent and dangerous Youth offender inmates in Victoria. And as no other prison is suitably secure enough to hold them safely in custody, until a new High Security purpose built Supermax Youth Justice Centre Prison can be built in the immediate future…However the location for the new prison to be built is under mass protest by the Werribee local residents and community who don’t want a Youth Justice Maximum Security Prison in their neighbourhood. The Victorian Government have said they are going to build the prison at a chosen site in Werribee South regardless to the communities opposition to the prison in their area???…

‘THOUSANDS PROTEST PROPOSED JUVENILE PRISON IN WERRIBEE SOUTH’

Werribee South residents and farmers are furious about the proposed juvenile prison in their area – http://www.theage.com.au – News , Victoria News…14 February, 2017…

Werribee South protest: Tractors rumble through suburb as thousands protest against detention centre. –
Several thousand protesters have gathered in Melbourne’s west to voice their anger at the Victorian Government’s decision to build a new youth detention centre at Werribee South.
As twenty tractors made their way through the area on Monday evening, the crowd vowed to fight the proposal in a campaign that will include sending one email a day to Premier Daniel Andrews and his senior cabinet for three months.
“The more emails we send … the more they’re going to listen, former Wyndham City councillor Glenn Goodfellow told the crowd as he suggested protestors send an email every day for the next three months.
Speakers from a cross- section of the community and varied political affiliations addressed the rally laying out their opposition to the $290 million centre.
Federal Labor MP Joanne Ryan, a proud “Werribee girl” and Member for Lalor, told the crowd that “as a community we have worked too hard for too long to undo the stigmatisation of this community … to have it undone by one decision.”
Ms Ryan, who is preparing to pressure the Andrews Government to find a new site, will be a headache for her state Labor colleagues…

More than one million visitors visit the Werribee Zoo and the Werribee Mansion each year, and many more pass through the area to get to Victoria’s surf coast. The prison would undermine the efforts to build the regions tourist industry and the communities need for security. A Werribee Ratepayers Association resident said, “Since our local member likes it so much we’ll name it after him – we’ll call it Tim’s Palace – To a cheering crowd… This new prison site is on the doorstep of Victoria’s food bowl which I can tell you the state planning scheme says is a significant asset to Victoria. The farming area contributes $220 million to the Victorian economy, much of that from the decades -old market garden industry. 11. 7News – Murder Uncovered: Cop killer walks free with new prison psychologist wife as widow grieves – While a teenage cop killer enjoys his new life with the prison psychologist he married after his release, the widow of the slain policeman has told of her anger towards the man who took the life of her husband who was sentenced to 27 years’ jail, but on appeal has been released on ‘Parole’ after only ’16 years’ behind bars, now looking very muscular and with tattoos and sharing a Faecbook page with a another released axe murder. Which should be a breach of his parole???

Constable Peter Forsyth and his rookie mate Jason Semple were unarmed and off duty when they tried to arrest a young man who offered them drugs on February 28, 1998.

MURRY HEARNE was 18 when he stabbed both Police Officers in Ultimo, NSW, leaving Constable Forsyth dead only metres from his wife and two children.
MURRY HEARNE fled the murder scene as Constable Semple was left bleeding fighting for his life.
The teen vanished until police tracked down the cop killer.
This 7News Documentary: Murder Uncovered – Thin Blue Line — Investigates the death of NSW Police Officer Peter Forsyth and how his killer walked free from prison.
Thin Blue Line will tell the story of how police found HEARNE and the disturbing twist of how he found himself a free man again and living a life, after taking one from another.

In a rare interview, survivor Jason Semple has told of what the policeman went through that night, before and during Constable Peter Forsyth’s murder.
“I rarely speak openly about things, but it’s important to share my story,” he told Murder Uncovered.
“I don’t want people to forget my mate and colleague, Peter Forsyth, and what we went through that night and what he did for me.
“It’s also for the thin blue line that we’re part of. So much has happened since then. But I’ll never forget his sacrifice,” he said.

On the fourth June 1999, PRISONER MURRY HEARNE was sentenced to 27 years’ jail for killing Constable Forsyth and seriously wounding Constable Jason Semple.
PRISONER HEARNE spent much of his minimum 16 year sentence in a modern comfortable country jail. Where he built up his muscular and tattooed physique from the pathetic coward runt he was before his arrest back in 1998.
Years before his release on parole from prison, PRISONER MURRY HEARNE was treated by a prison psychologist Bobbie Bergmeier. The pair sparked a romantic relationship and planned a life together once he was released.
In March 2014, HEARNE as released from a Junee Prison after serving only 16 years for murder and attempted murder’ which was reduced from 27 years after his sentence was downgraded to manslaughter on his court appeal?
MURRY HEARNE is still on Parole. – Despite the sentiment that “if you kill a cop, you never get out of jail” – HEARNE is active on Social Media :Facebook with another released on Parole Axe Murderer.

  12. ‘TEEN RIOT COSTS RISE’

THE cost of the violent reckless riot damage cause by teen ‘Client Children’ inmates in the Youth Justice crisis is beginning to bite financially.

The Department of Health and Human Services this week revealed an update on the damage done by rioting teenager inmates at Victorian Youth Justice Centres, which has now reached up to $3.3 million in the past two years.

This included $2.38 million for the 2015 – 2016 financial year.

Up to $1 million more in damage was caused during a November 12, 2016 rampage when out-of-control youth inmates ransacked Parkville Detention Centre.

The trouble is, the costs outlined so far are only a slice of the bill to come.
A series of other major disturbances and riots, including just days ago the H.M.Barwon Prison, High Security Grevillea Unit riot and the notorious Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre riot and mass breakout in late January 2017, are yet to be fully costed.

But it is known significant damage was inflicted and repairs are still ongoing.
Which makes it all the more clear Victoria needs, and has needed for some time, a purpose – built facility to handle a ‘new generation of reckless and violent youth offenders’.

Getting the decision right on the security scope and site of the planned $228 million new Youth Detention Facility is crucial.
We’ve seen several thousand locals protest against it’s planned location in Werribee South and the federal Labor member has also voiced her opposition of the proposed site for the prison.

The Andrews Government considered more than a dozen other locations — it must now convince people in the community why the Werribee South business case beat other options.

Victoria can’t afford to have this crucial project delayed by potential legal challenges or protest because the Victorian Government won’t be transparent on the prison selection process.

How The United States once dealt with it’s Youth criminal in the Youth Training School detention Prisons…
Todays violent reckless out-of-control dangerous Youth criminals might learn to fear what going into prison once is again and experience tough discipline like in these United States Youth prisons of the past…
Unlike the joke of the Victorian easy damaged modern humane containment holiday retreat jails that they keep deliberately destroying on their prison vandalism out-control-riots.

The Victorian Government need to go on a fact finding tour to the United States of America to learn how they effectively build riot proof prisons to prevent dangerous teen and adult inmates from rioting and avoid causing millions of dollars damage to not secure enough prisons for dangerous inmates.
The $228 million new Youth Prison surely at this expensive price should be built like a prison fortress of pre-stressed high tensile reinforce hardened concrete with anti vandal cell blocks and cells with razor ribbon to secure all inner and outer walls to prevent escapes.
If the Government only spend $228 millions dollars on another soft conditions country club prison. The youth and adult inmate will only take over the prison and damage it like they always do in prison riots. Why can’t the government ?stop being advised by human rights do-gooders and crim lover lawyers and Judges and built a “real supermax prison” to securely contain our worst dangerous and violent criminals and put the fear of going to prison back on the worst criminals that partake in prison riots and dangerous crimes when they are free again in the community after only short handed out prison stays by our magistrates and judges and parole boards…

The United States Penitentiary, Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX) is an American federal supermax prison for male inmates located in Fremont County,Colorado. [2][3] It is unofficially known as ADX Florence ADMAX,supermax, or Alcatraz of the Rockies.[4] Part of the Florence Federal Correctional Complex, which is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a division of the United States Department of Justice, it houses the male inmates in the federal prison system who are deemed the most dangerous and in need of the tightest control. ADX also includes an adjacent minimum-security camp that, as of March 2014, houses more prisoners than the supermax unit.
The BOP has not designated a “supermax” facility for women. Women in the BOP system who are classified as “special management concerns” due to violence and/ or escape attempts are confined in the administrative unit of Federal Medical Centre, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.
